Special and Remedial Education
Special education is the practice of educating students in a way that provides accommodations that address their individual differences, disabilities, and special needs. Remedial education programs are intended to bridge the gap between what the child already knows and what they should know. Fundamental skills are retaught in these programs. Reading and math are usually the focus of remedial programs for younger children. Other subjects, such as science and social studies, are included in older children’s programs. They provide extra assistance to children in order to help them catch up to their peers. Any student who is struggling in school could enroll in a remedial education program.
